No More Free Festivals?
The Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) has sparked outrage in communities across the UK in a recent initiative to charge community arts and music events for the cost of policing.

By just having a stage, entertainment license, a few stalls and a couple of stewards, your local event is in danger of being heavily taxed by the police for their assistance, and as a result, shutdown for good.
Events like this are put together for the community, by the community; a platoon of volunteer organisers keen to put something back into their local neighbourhood, funded with limited budgets.
If they are then intimidated with even greater costs, events like these simply cannot continue, bringing some much loved family affairs to an end.
Community events promote community cohesion, encourage community engagement and are generally a force for good in society, these are all key national indicators for the department of culture media and sport (DCMS).
We urge the goverment / home office to stop the police charging these events for policing costs.

They are not the liscencing committees and should have no say in what events happen and don't happen. they are there to protect the public.
Although if you look at the news recently it seems like that has been all but forgotten.
Make a stand now before its too late
I wonder how many they needfor it to be worth while...
